Really Bad Foods

This page is on some of the worst foods in america, according to Eat This, Not That! the Best (and Worst) Foods in America!  (You have to be figuring by now that I like Eat This, Not That.)  Each week, I'll add a new food, but I might forget.  I'll do it the same day as my mystery food.

Here is the list:

11: Worst Sandwich: Large Quiznos Tuna Melt: 1760 calories, 133 grams fat (25 saturated, 1.5 trans), 2120 milligrams of sodium, and 92 grams of carbs.  Tuna sounds healthy, but the problem is probably the mayo.  Tuna anything tends to come with a big glob of mayonnaise, sometimes, apparently, with trans fats.  If you can't live without tuna, try looking for something mayo-free.

12: Worst salad: On the Border Grande Taco Salad (with Taco Beef and Chipotle Honey Mustard Dressing), containing 1700 calories, 124 grams of fat, 37.5 grams of saturated fat, 2620 milligrams of sodium, and 86 grams of carbs.  Ruining a salad.  This isn't just grande, it's calorie-packed!  It has too much of everything, with calories approaching the 2000 recommended daily limit, 1 7/8 days of saturated fat, over the RDA of salt, and a whole lot of carbs.  It's surprising how some companies make you think you're ordering something healthy, like a salad, and make you end up eating at least 1500 calories at one meal without drinks and dessert.

13: Worst Chicken Entrée: DQ 6-piece Chicken Strip Basket, with 1640 calories, 74 grams of fat (12 saturated, 1 trans), 3690 milligrams of sodium, and 121 grams of carbohydrates.  I know it's 6-piece with gravy, but why do you need to give it 74 GRAMS OF FAT?!  And while 1 gram of trans might sound like barely any, it still is half that of the some-combination-of-letters-or-other recommended maximum daily intake.  And it has about 1 1/2 day's worth of sodium!  Wow!

14: Worst ice cream dessert: Cosí's Double Trouble Brownie Sundae: 1594 calories, 95 grams fat, 1039 milligrams of sodium, 163 grams of carbs.  That is so salty.  And it's a DESSERT?! Come on!  1594 calories could be cut down to at most 1000!!!

15: Worst breakfast: Bob Evans Stacked & Stuffed Banana Pecan hotcakes, with 1543 calories, 77 grams of fat (26 saturated and 9 trans), 2259 milligrams of sodium, and 109 grams of sugars.  Look at that! 2259 milligrams of sodium and 1543 calories! Not to mention the payload of trans fatty acids!

16: Worst fast-food breakfast: McDonald's Deluxe Breakfast with syrup, margarine, and a large biscuit, with 1370 calories, 64.5 grams of fat, 21.5 grams of saturated fat, 2340 milligrams of sodium, and 161 grams of carbohydrates.  Not too surprising, considering what's in it.

17: Worst steak: Outback Steakhouse Rib Eye Steak, with 1190 calories.  They probably don't provide any other nutritional information, so that's all I can tell you.

18. Worst "healthy" sandwich: Blimpie Special Vegetarian, with 1186 calories, 60 grams of fat (19 of those are saturated), 131 grams of carbohydrates, and 3532 MILLIGRAMS OF SODIUM!!!  A Special Vegetarian sandwich sounds healthy, doesn't it?  It's not always true that vegetarian=healthy.  According to the source listed above, 2 big macs would be healthier.

19. Worst supermarket meal in america: Stouffer's White Meat Chicken Pot Pie, with 1160 calories, 66 grams of fat (26 saturated), and 1780 milligrams of sodium.  Before looking at the nutrition label, it doesn't sound so bad, does it?

20. Worst kids' meal in america: Chili's Pepper Pals Little Chicken Crispers, with 1110 calories (a lot of 1s), 82 grams fat (15 saturated), 1980 milligrams of sodium (Ronald Reagan's election year), and 56 grams of carbs.  A lot of kids would eat this if they could, though.
